10g tank setups

hey guys im thinking of doign 3x10g tanks.. on a custom shelf that im goign to build.. intead of each tank having its seperate little bio filters what can i do.. to make it easier besides that or i can jsut do the filters sepertaly.. nothign crazy.. i just wanna make each oen diffrent like for instance.. do one wih jus a pair of small clwons with anenmores.. then do another tank with some invertabrates.. and so on and so fourth.. let me knwo here is a picture how i could possiby do a filtartion... let me know

You'd probably be better plumbing it as one system..

maybe put a 4th one at the bottom as a sump/refugium, put your heaters and skimmer etc in it.
 
Could have each higher tank overflow to the one below it and have a return from sump to the top tank. Not only would this not be difficult, but instead of having 3 10g tanks you'd have essentially 1 system with 35+ gallons (depending on sump size). Less individual testing to do, less worry about levels getting out of whack in a hurry.
