Build an evaporative chiller.

Hmmm I have been thinking of putting a couple fans down over my sump in the basement and since I turned off my algae scrubber I think I will re-purpose that to get a max effect it won't do a ton I'm sure but I don't need much since switching to led thanks for the idea

Very cool Paul. All I have ever used to cool my tanks is fans. They aren't all that sexy, but I have a fan on top of my 125 and 50 blowing over the surface. Simple and effective. Your idea allows you to do the same thing, but in a cabinet, basement, etc.

well I added 3 fans to my sump today and one on my fuge , seems to work . friday will be big test at 92 degrees out

I've had good luck using small, high speed box fans to cool our tank driven by our controller. However, now that we have an AC in the same room it's usually easier/cheaper to keep the AC at 75 or so instead of cooling the tank.
