I have a 1" ID bulkhead that needs to be in my overflow. Where can I get a barbed fitting threaded to the outer threads of a 1" ID bulkhead? Basically I want to use the outer threads instead of the inner threads on the bulkhead, if this makes sense.
Lowes and other hardware stores I went to don't have the thread pattern of the bulkhead, (too fine, the bulkhead has more threads per inch than regular PVC  ) I don't want to plumb this with hard lines I want vinyl tubing
I know this is probably basic stuff but I thought I could find the fitting at the Hardware Store.

Thanks
Steve

P.S. Thanks to everyone I got frags from today, I wish I could have stayed longer at the meeting. ReefTV looks awesome.
Did someone record Randy's talk? Can we get copies if so?

i think its 1 1/4" pipe threads.
try:
http://www.aquaticeco.com/

i am guessing your using it to seat the bulkhead in the overflo. might have a hard time finding one that has a long enough thread to go the length pf the bulkhead..... could just cut it.

The 1 1/4" pipe threads at Lowes didn't fit this bulkhead. It's one from Living Sea's box O
bulkheads. I want a barbed fitting for the outer threads not the small inner threads, I will use the inners if I have to, How much flow comes from 3/4" ID tubing? Tubing needs no 90 degree elbows and is much simpler to deal with.

Also 1" ID tubing fits over this bulkhead could I clamp it down tight with hose clamps and marine goop? hmmmm  but 1" PVC 1 1/4" PVC does not thread on.

Maybe I am making this more difficult than need be. :D

No I will seat the bulkhead with the original nut which leaves almost an inch of threads. I read your post again and I got what you said. Somedays you get it somedays you don't :D

Problem with the threads on the outside is they are not tapered like typical pipe threads they are staight like a machine type thread. You may have a hard time sealing,
or you could strip the threads. Just a thought.

Thats why I havn't tried to force anything on them, I don't want to strip them. I was hoping there was a barbed attachment for the outer threads as well. 3/4 tubing it is.

I recorded the meeting...I just have to download it. This is all a new set-up. so if it comes out good, I'll let you know, and share with whoever wants it.

Try looking in the sprinkler section at HD, Sprinkler fittings are a little diffrent and may work.

IffersTankSlave, Thanks, let me know, I would love a copy. PM me for Email stuffs.

denvig, Thanks for the tip. Being a landscaper I should have check the irrigation supplies as they do have diff threads and various elbows and whatnot. So much to do.......:D
