Cadlights 50 Long 2.0

So I have had a Cadlights 50 long sitting in my garage since I bought my house two years ago. It was previously setup at my old house and suffered a crash when we went away and of course a GFI tripped and the tank crashed.


I have been planning and buying equipment for a large scale build. That build is still a ways off and I could not wait any longer.


This tank will have tons of Zoas and I am going to give SPS a try. The tank will be setup with a two island scape.

That sounds like one hell of a set up there! Best of luck to you! Let us know if you need any help. I don’t know what bulbs to suggest I just got my first t5 at school and it has coral plus, blue plus and purple plus bulbs. Maybe the same for you?

The tank is currently cycling using Dr Tims one and only. This is my first time using this product.

Hit it a little snag today I had previously purchased the light used and the seller gave me a good deal because he told me he lost the power converter for the fans. I recently ordered a new plug and low and behold 1 out of 3 fans work.

Looks like now I’ll b ordering replacement fans

Definitely have at a minimum 2 Blue Plus bulbs if not 3. Those things are the best IMO. Tons of PAR and great looks. Throw in an actinic and 2 daylight bulbs in the 10-15K range and it'll look awesome.

So I’ve changed my mind and am steering in a different direction. I am going do a tank full of anemones. The tank will house BTA, maxi mini and rock flower. So my reasoning behind this is because I love nems and will give them this tank. I am planning on a large tank build going right next to the current tank. If I have my nem fix with the 50 I won’t be tempted to put them in the Big Reef. Haha wishful thinking.
I also plan on putting in some fish that would not be considered reef safe like a Lemon Peel Angel

So today I made a trip to meet up with Rick. Can’t say enough what a great guy he his always has killer stuff.

A black widow not picture yet need to brighten up.
And what I can only describe as a black widow mixed with a rainbow.
These guys need to settle in and adjust to the T5 lighting.

I am super excited to see these all brighten up in the tank

Went to FFM with my son he insisted that the Aussie gold torch was an anemone. So I did what any good dad does and just agreed and bought what he wanted.

Was able to catch up with Rick and grab this sweet UV artwork

So since I didn’t really find what I was looking for yesterday I decided to head to Love the reef today. WOW I was so impressed with the store and the helpful staff. I picked up a Naomi wrasse. As soon as I saw the fish I had to have it. I have never actually see one in person before.

Not my pic mine is still hiding since he went into the tank. Mine has amazing blue highlights throughout all the black on its fins.

So today I took the 2 MP40QD off of this system m. It was too much even on the lowest setting. I hooked up a pair of Maxspec Gyre 230s. Flow is nice and even nems and los in the tank look great swaying

Picked up a black torch from Love the reef these colors are insane.
I also grabbed a green with purple tips that I can’t get a good pic of yet.
Also decided to grab a gold hammer
