I recently found out that nannochloropsis can be cultured in freshwater. I was wondering if anyone has ever done that in the club? I would be mainly concerned with what would happen if you dosed it into the tank? I know the salt savings would be very minimal but the time savings from mixing up the saltwater now that I'm mainly doing NSW and I don't have a mixing station would be worth it for me. Would take only a few minutes to split and harvest phyto.

Would the rapid shift from freshwater to the salinity we keep our tanks at kill the phyto immediately?

Not matter because nannochloropsis is resilient enough to survive that salinity shift?

Or stay alive long enough to be sucked up and used by the filter feeders and other things in the tank so that it dying from the rapid salinity shift wouldn't matter?
