Custom stand 40 gallon breeder new setup

Ok so a lot of people are gonna laugh. I’ve been into doing freshwater AND saltwater fish tank for over 15 years. I’m more experienced in saltwater. I’ve had everything from 12 and 28 gallon biocubes, 55 gallon 75 gallon rectangle tanks, 90 gallon bow front tank, 125 and 150 gallon fish tank. I’ve had everything from fish only to reef, to seahorses, and banded sharks. When I moved out of my parents out and bought my own house I sadly had to take down my 150 gallon fully stocked reef tank. Between getting married, buying a house and having a new baby, funds got tight and I haven’t been able to get back into the hobby. Over the last 4-5 months I’ve been building by own custom stand “little by little, free time is hard to come by”. I got the idea from my brother who has a 40 gallon breeder fish tank with 2 emperor 400 filters and he’s had a very nice clean reef tank for multiple years. He started off with 2 small anemones and he is over 10 anemones in there. Corals are flourishing and I would have never guessed you could have such a successful tank with such standard equipment. I have decided I want to duplicate his setup (to a certain extent. I built my own stand because I wanted it higher than the standard tank so you don’t have to crouch as far down to look at it). I will be running a reef breeder light and 2 emperor 400 filters With obviously heaters and power heads. I plan on doing a limited reef tank small mixture not overloaded cause I won’t have a protein skimmer. Some softies and other easy corals. I’ll have a couple anemones and some easy/hardy small fish. Here’s some of the progress I’ve made so far. All the equipment has been purchased and in hand. The stand has been build from scratch and completely finished (outside of some wet paint spots). Next this is to fill and add rock. What do you think so far.

I ran a standard 55 gallon with two emperor filters for almost two years with a thriving mixed reef until I moved and had to downsize to a Biocube nice job so far

Looks great.
I would add heavy duty casters and hide them with a removable trim skirt on the bottom.
Never know when you have to move a tank in an emergency.
If interested I can send you pics.

Great stand!

Building a stand for my 40B turned out to be the most frustrating and unexpectedly difficult thing to do. I am glad I did because having a taller stand really makes it nicer but getting the top corners planar to a few papers width was a significant challenge for me. I managed to get it good enough for a smaller rimmed tank but I am not building another stand when I upgrade (spending money for T-slot for the next one!).

Great work! Yes, when I had a fish room with a lot of tanks I also built them all taller so I could walk around the room. Great thought.
