Diving back in Red Sea Reefer Nano

After a couple of crazy years I'm finally settled in and ready to get a tank going again. I'm in a smaller apartment so I wanted to stay pretty small. After a lot of debate with myself I decided to go for it and pulled the trigger on a Red Sea Reefer Nano.

Just picked it up Friday.

Plan on getting it wet the first week of July. In the meantime I need to start deciding on equipment for it. Its been a while so I could probably use some help.

A few requirements. Tank will be in my room, so I want it as quiet as possible. Hopefully I can keep it bearable. I want to keep it simple, but I can't resist sps, so I need the light. Lastly I want to buy quality gear that'll last.

Light: AI hydra 26 HD, Radion XR15w gen4 pro, maybe nanobox duo.
Return: Sicce Syncra Silent 2.0
Flow: mp10wQD possibly a second in time
Skimmer: no idea, not too worried about it just yet
Controller: I still have my ReefAngel controller. Will see how that goes
ATO: will use the built in one and evaluate
Rodi: Buy one or just use LFS water? I had the Air Water Ice mighty mite before. I can't find it so thinking I tossed it when i sold my house. Maybe that again? A factor to consider is water pressure is pretty lousy here.

Any input on the above?! Suggestions? What else am I missing?

Unless you have an LFS you trust, I’d test any water you get there. If there are variances in their water and your not aware it may be tough to diagnose issues down the road.

I had a Sicce on my nano, and it was great. I switched to the Vectra S pump and it is also great. I use a MAME overflow and the DC flow controls help tune the overflow better, and it also is very compact so fits better in the chamber. No noticeable noise difference.

I also recommend investing in an RODI, the sourcing of quality water gets old if you don't have one.

I have the following running with my "Red Sea Reefer 170" and it's great very quite.
Light: AI hydra 26 HD
Return: Sicce Syncra Silent 2.0
Flow: mp10wQD

Thanks for the replies!

Definitely not getting this filled up this week as planned, but no big deal.

Just finally got the stand together last night. Still need to plumb it.

Picked up the Sicce Syncra Silent 2.0 already.

Made up my mind on some other things and now waiting on a hydra 26 hd with HMS mount, mp10wqd, BRS 5 stage ro/di, 100w neo-therm heater, and 40lbs special grade reef sand. I think it'll be here Monday.

Doing the live rock vs dry rock debate now. Also need to start thinking about a skimmer sooner or later.

Expected delivery date for everything was Monday, but it all got here yesterday.

Got the light on the tank and the basic plumbing done this morning. Think I did it right. Still need to get the return hooked up.

Haven't updated in a while. Got the tank filled up and added a bunch of live rock soon after my last post. I hate aquascaping these little tanks.

Since then I've added two little o. clowns, a mixed snail crew and have just been hanging out and taking it slow, until today. Added my first three corals.

Quick picture attached from right after I dipped them and got them in.

Still need to get a skimmer. Haven't researched it yet. Figured it's not a pressing matter since I have such a small bioload and am doing regular water changes

Lookin good
Thanks!

Decided to grab Apexel for the tank. I currently have a reef angel, but having some problems with it. I had it working my old tanks, but I remember spending a ton of time trying to get it to work. The wizard makes it easier, but I want foolproof.

To update: grabbed some frags at the meeting last weekend. Also, with some luck picked the bta in Frank's $10 grab bag. Ignore the dirty glass, havent cleaned it in a bit.

I also switched my lights to BRS' version of the radion SPS AB+ last night. I put it on the coral acclimation mode starting at 50%, so it's not full blast yet. I'll give it some time, but it's a little too blue for me

Added a few more corals the other day. Also did a live sale and waiting for those sticks to show up.

Maybe someone can help me out here. I set up feed mode on the apex to shut off the return pump. When feed mode ends and the pump starts back up the drain valve thing always needs to be adjusted.

Why does it not settle back in to how it was before??

Drain valve thing? You mean the overflow?

How long do you let it run? Maybe it will settle in again?
