How long have you been a member of BRS, and how long have you kept reef tanks?

Joined Feb. 2009. Had my first saltwater tank a little over a year after I graduated highschool in late 2004. The only reminder I have of that tank is from a video I recorded at my old apartment. You can here the water splashing in a heavily evaporated tank from the HOB filter in it. HAH, The good ol' days. It was a 29 tall with maybe 3 pieces of live rock and 2 pieces of freshwater lava rock, 2 petco condy nems, a HOB filter and a regular cover with a freshwater fluorescent bulb. So sad

We incorporated in 2002 Spring. I'm thinking that's accurate. @JimN who recently moved back to the area was the original treasurer and might remember.
Hey Joe. I hope all is well with you. I see that you created a little frag of your own! Mine are quite old now at 16 and 13. Almost time for them to separate from the mother colony! You have a good memory. It was indeed 2002. Maybe I will run for Treasurer again in 2022. #BRS_Strong

Got back in almost 2 years ago, had reef a reef tank years back and missed it. All said I've been in it for a little over half of a decade. Jointed recently to meet and share with other local people in the hobby.

Joined in '03-'04? ...but have had a reef since '93 when under-gravel filters with Hagen 802's were all the rage. No skimmers, no RR tanks---just fluorescent lighting with a wet/dry filter and hopes that you could keep a Goniopora or Christmas Tree worm alive longer than a month.

Gssh ya lol

Didn’t realize undergravel filters were outdated! Still running multiple tanks with an under gravel filter run on only air pump, heater, light and 100% weekly water changes

Lifelong freshwater aquarist who remembers being kissed through the glass by my dads kissing gouramis in his planted tank back in the 90’s. Now I’m trying to recreate that with my 2 boys but add in 4 small reefs on top of the FW tank. I got into SW in 2012 with a fluval edge 6g, pre packaged water and a petco condy anemone that ate my clown fish, second attempt was more successful with an IM40 and still have the livestock of that system between a 1.75g reefbowl, 2.5g dropoff, three cup reef, and a reefer 250 (soon to be downsized to an IM25 lagoon). Creeped on the forum 2016/2017, joined last year as a paid member and was super stoked when I got my little laminated membership card. I find the forum nano-reef has more available knowledge that pertains to my tanks(nano/picos) but I score all my best coral on this forum and meet nice people and like to read about the larger sized systems and of course Paul B threads. I still need to sack up and go to a meeting and get a bag of fish goo one day though.

Holiday party on the 29th in Framingham. It'll be a great time for all.

I just bought my first fish tank 3 months ago it’s a nuvo fusion 20 gallon. I have never had a fish tank prior. I don’t know why it took me so long to make the plunge. My wife loves it too, which makes going to the fish store easier. I just joined the club this month. Looking to meet some of you at the meeting!
