? Live rock sellers

I’m shopping for some live rock about 10-15lbs. I ordered before from kp aquatics and it was great. They’ve been out of stock for a while now.
Anyone ordered from live rocknreef ? or the other one that seems really interesting is pacific east aquaculture. I’m curious to know what other people think. I’m leaning toward pacific east …. They have some interesting shape, but I do enjoy the critters from the ocean cultures from Florida.
It feels like apple and orange, but maybe some of you experimented those companies and could tell more about the quality. Any other suggestions?
share your experience if you feel like it it might help me or other Reefers who are starting anew tank

PEA isn’t as “wild” as I’d think live rock reef would be so it you want critters, I’d try them.

PEA carries “real reef rock”. This is the description.
“Its components are made of the same building blocks which wild coral and living reef rock are composed of. The ingredients are not taken from the ocean and as a result there is zero environmental impact to the world’s coral reefs or marine habitat.”

Whatttttt!!! It’s made from the same ingredient as wild corals…but don’t worry, it’s not taken from the ocean.
whatttttttt!!!

I read their description and sales pitch. I even understand it.
I was looking for someone who might have experienced first hand with their rocks to know how it does in their tank and if it’s worth the expense.

My biggest concerned is that it’s ground shipped. That KP air shipped in water is a different beast.

Will do, probably in a month or less, I’m still shopping, and looking at all the options. Maybe kp aquatics will have some back in stock…..

I chose to go with golf live rock. I wanted to try and see the difference with kp. So here it is 20lbs shipped overnight to my door in wet paper.
smell good, lots of life on it. Less porous more boulder like. It does look good and filled with plants which is nice for a lagoon tank. Now they are cycling in the tank I want to sell lol I’m curious how long it will take in these conditions and how much will die. More in a week……

Super curious to see more details re the differences with KP as they reveal themselves. Did you order the KP rock shipped wet?

The one from kp I got 1 1/2 year ago in January overnight shipped with wet paper same as gulf live rock that I received today.
ko is more porous and more clean, less plants and stuff on it it looks younger a little. But the shape and holes in it are amazing kp took me a month in a bucket with water changes to cycle.
The gulf so far is chunkier less holes in them but look older with lots of plants and I can see 2 rocks with some type of corals with tissu on them. 2 giant clams that are moving and I put everything in water less then 2 hours ago. So with regular water changes adding bacteria, I also put some sands from my 3 tanks in the bottom and the sponges from my IM 40 in the drain part of the sump. I think that putting them in real environment faster might help save a lot of life. The lights are super low so just enough to wake up but. It to fry. Ill try to take closer pictures of the corals another time . Hopefully they will make it.

Cool

Live rock is cycled close to 100% nh3 0 and no2 close to 0 I would say 0.01 it was barely perceptible. I used fritzz bacteria minimal death I’m pleasantly surprised. Lots of life, turkey clams and torny oysters. Sadly a white tube coral bleached, hopefully some cells will survive. Of course now that I transferred a few astrea and hermit crabs and a tiny peppermint shrimp, looks who shows up……
My first mantis ever…. I know where it lives….. will certainly move it

Those mantis have to go, but they are so neat. Maybe someone in the club wants to do a species tank.
