Maybe a stupid question...help checking for voltage

What setting do i put this on to check for voltage in my water. Had a fish die recently for no reason and i want to rule out everything.

VDC( left side) 200m. Assuming the stray voltage is in the milivolt. You can start at 200V and work your way down. The readying just be more coarse.

one probe goes into the Ground of your outlet the other probe goes into the tank.

That last message has me a little alarmed. Not sure if i can reach the tank and the ground on an outlet.
 
If you don’t stick the lead into anywhere but ground of your outlet, the risk of hurting yourself is minimal. I just had to put it out there as some people might stick it into the outlet itself, which can be bad if you don’t know what you’re doing.
 
Oh yeah.. just like this is me said, but just tape a longer wire to the red led and into your tank and the black led into the ground of the receptacle. Any movement in readings means you have stray voltage. If it stays at zero then theres nothing.
