This pass summer my waterbox 170.4/5 crashed lost a bunch of sps for months ,decided I wanted a 6 foot tank since I was not a fan of the waterbox . I found a aqueon 210 (72x24x30) for cheap in New Hampshire, guy said it was perfect shape and needed a top brace fixed he wanted 600 . Paid $400 picked it up took it home to find it was not perfect. After a few weeks I found a top brace for it , fixed that vinyl wrapped the back black . Now to the stand I wanted a custom open front stand to show off my sump. So had a friend build one (still not finished) . Since I hated the waterbox sump it took a while to find a sump I liked, finally found the ice cap 36xl reef sump (36x24x16) with passive flow refugium and auto top off built in. Over the spring and summer I collected base rock about 400pounds or so just because I knew I was thinking about this . Tanks now up and running has about 350-400 pounds of rock in it with a lot of caves , I like the more natural reef look vs open tank look . Tanks lit by 6x ai hydra 26hd running ab+ and 4x54 t5 running 6 hours a day . After the set up in October the tank took another crash I lost pretty much all my sps some lps , I’m guessing it went through a mini cycle from the née base rock I added . Things are looking up now my wonderful girlfriend got me a early Xmas gift for the tank a apex trident . Now I’m trying to get everything stable and hopefully add sps by the 1st of the year . Now the waterbox was turned into a freshwater planted.

That's a nice girlfriend!!! Sucks about the mini-crash... Hope the trident helps things grow like crazy for you! Heard a lot of people saying that it has helped with growth as it keeps things very stable and consistent...

Yea I guess I should keep her . As far as the trident goes it should as long as it stays calibrated, I just started dosing off of it just alk at this time . Past two days the alk has been in the 8.3xs stable day and night, so far it’s good time will tell.

This is going to be a cool tank.

It look good Gene. I've got the rock wall style tank now but I 'm going to open it up in my next tank. Right now I have five fish set spend all their lives in the rocks. Lubbock's wrasse, Orchid dottyback, two pajama Cardinals and my Yellow Tail damsel.

I have a lot of tangs and two fox faces they spend their time swimming on the outside of the rocks but there’s also a lot of swim through caves . But I have three fish that spend all the time in the rocks and my shrimp never come out

Do you remember that fire shrimp you gave me a long time ago. I would see that thing maybe once a year for all I know it could still be in there.

I don’t remember giving anyone a fire shrimp

Been awhile since I last updated , had a few bumps in the road the last few months . Tank was doing ok the out of no where had some serious die off , I was chasing everything and couldn’t find the answer till one morning I found two very rusted screws stuck to a gyre. Seems like during the break down of the waterbox two new screws stuck to the gyre in suck a way I never saw them . This caused a lot of die of I lost lps I’ve had for the past 7 years , sps I’ve had for a while . I wanted to give up on this tank . Now fast forward two months tanks coming back nicely added a second dos for auto water changes . Coral die off has been doing a lot better any new sps lives now .

Nice. What's the latger orange coral on the left side? I remember seeing a tank that was fully mature and it was all green and orange. It looked great.
