Tank/Overflow covers

Do you cover your overflows to block light or to reduce noise? What are you using to do it? My acrylic tank came with inset acrylic covers but for my glass tank I am trying to come up with something that fits nicely.

I just have a piece of black acrylic I cut to size over mine. Mostly to keep snails/fish out.

I had cut some smaller pieces to act as guides/rails and hold the cover in place, but the cover piece warps and it sticks up.

My current cover is just cut to size and sits on top. That one warped a little as well, but it works.

I had cut out a storage container lid for both of mine. used the end pieces of 1 lid. Fit nicely and both are quieter. I did it for algae growing in the teeth of the overflows. Working well.
