280G Multi Tank Build

I am currently in the process of setting up a 2 DT setup. I have a red sea reefer 450 (92g) currently set up and running on temporary filtration for a short time. I have a 150g DT that I plan on drilling an overflow box into today. I am looking for advice on the sump. I plan to run both tanks to 1 common sump. I have a Geo's Reef Su46rd-pro, total volume of 44g that I could use or I can use a 75g aquarium as the sump. I am torn as the geos reef has many nice features but I am worried it will be too small for the combined system volume. I am wondering if I should just attempt to sell the Geo's Reef sump and use the 75, Use it and be careful of drain down, or do some hybrid and drill the geos reef with a bulkhead and have it gravity overflow into the 75g with a return pump stationed in the 75g.

I run a cadlights 100 gallon and a deep blue 80 gallon sharing a 34 gallon trigger systems sump. I'd say your good to go in terms of water drawing back to the sump. My sump handles it with an inch to an inch and a half to spare.

I have a 220 and a 180 sharing a 120 sump, which I keep half full at normal operating water levels. To Biggies point I think your smaller sump will work. You will want to ensure you have solid siphon breaks in place. In my case I do my water changes in and out of the sump without turning off the tanks at all. The extra room there allows this.

Tank is drilled and cut the wall so the overflow box is right into the fish room and tank is more or less flush with wall. Also pics of the 92 I have running. I bought a very mature system livestock and all and transplanted it.

Plumbing is almost done, after some delays, for the 2 systems, be updating with pics soon. Picked up some powerheads for the 150g as well

Well one step forward 2 steps back... Finished the plumbing and leak testing revealed some leaky joints. Win some lose some...

Equipment is running and no leaks! 150g is running isolated for now. Will dunp into system volume soon

With the UV unit elevated above the sump, are you concern with the unit running dry is flow is cut off? The bulb runs hot and without any water to cool it and in an inclosed chamber like that….bad things can happen.

Mild concern, I have it fed off of its own pump. Eventually going to put a cutoff on it just in case via apex that will kill the power to it if the pump dies.

Added some QT Tanks, a 20L for Invert/coral and a 20 standard for fish. Going to replace the 5g bucket with a 29g tank for ATO reservoir.
