fish suggestion

Corwyn

I am in Raynham
HI gang,

having a hard time with fish selection for my 30Pro
Currently just 2 perc clowns for which I will get a BTA

I would like to add a blue spot jaw fish down the line but given those 2 fishes.
I ws thinking of adding a yellow watchman gobie but not sure how well that would get along with the jaw.
what would you suggest that is/are swimmers and visible and showy ( not damsels, not pajama cardinals) maybe bangaiis, but is 3 too much for this tank? .

How about a yellow coris wrasse? Great fish in my opinion. They are smaller fish 3-4 inches but would work in your setup. Don’t let their size fool you because it will always be on the move. Gives you something to watch. Also he’ll with pests but in my experience peaceful with tank mates.

Blennies would work although they do stay more towards the bottom and a Blood red fire shrimp would be a great addition, adding interest and color

what's the fish in the second and 3rd pic with yellow tail and blue line on top?

Yes it’s a Hippo. For quantity of fish I would suggest no more than four to five fish for your 30 gallon. Curious is this a fish only tank?
No, It already has some shrooms and some GPS and a recovering small goni. I would like to add a clam maybe but mostly softies and a few LPS.

Read up on blue spotted jaw fish. Mine kept moving all my corals around to build up his hole. They need really deep sand. I would do the watchman goby

The fish that's furthest to the left in this photo is a Midas blenny
Really, I've never seen a Midas with blue, that yellow, and purple head!? I thought they were always that gold yellow - THUS the name? (the one circled?

Led lights, camera angle. It's a Midas blenny.

How about a pair of high finned red banded gobbies hosting a pistol shrimp. +1 on the yellow wrass. Great fish.

For a small tank I don't think I'd go with Anthias. If you are just starting out, the blue-spot jawfish are very expensive and not particularly hardy. You asked about Banggais. Great fish for a smaller system. I'd consider getting 4-5 small tank raised and hope they pair off. Keep in mind when they do if the others have survived you will have to get all but the pair out of the tank.

Many of the flasher wrasses are beautiful and reasonably sociable. They are good jumper though, so you have to prepare.

A lot of the small gobies are fun. I like the yellow or the green clown gobies, but you will find they don't swim around that much. Hawkfish are usually also good choices. Really so many choices!
