Aquascape in. Next plumbing.

1 month update.

The live rock ((about 60lbs) from my old tank has been exploding with pineapple sponge growth. Never seen that happen before. Anyone else have this happen?? Its only on the established live rock, not the dry rock structure i built.

I added 3 tangs when the ammonia spike was over and everything was leveling out. All the fish developed severe velvet about two weeks in and i lost my chocolate tang and freckle face tang. I did not quarantine
The purple tang has pulled through and appears extremely healthy and eating well. Not sure when to add fish next and if quarantine will be a moot point due to it (velvet or ich??) already being in the tank.

Id like to add some tester corals soon like monti cap and some favias. My leathers and duncans from the old tank are ok so far. Sometime in the next few weeks ill do my first water change and try yo maintain a regular routine for that. Also gotta build a mixing station in the garage. Been busy with lots of house stuff so im not going to rush things anymore than i have with this tank so far. Looking forward to the day when it is wall to wall with coral though

It will be. You need to run the tank fishless to end the ich or velvet cycle. You will need to quarantine everything you want to put in your tank. Inverts and corals included. You can live with managing a tank with ich. UV and good feedings work. Also keeping the tank stable so that the fish dont get stressed. 1 problem I see is that purple tang will make it very difficult to add any other tangs or similar looking fish and that will stress everyone and flare up the ich.

looks great Geoff you may want to make a couple doors on it for daily access and stuff you can do just reaching in
I left the top open so i can just drop food and stuff in, and Its so easy to take off and set aside if i need to get my hands wet I figured id just keep it simple. I do like the canopys w the piano hinge that open up completely too

Stopped by Dong’s today and got a few starter corals. Always a pleasure to see his amazing coral farm, and chat and pick his brain. Got an anemone for my clowns (hopefully ) milka stylo, green slimer, red and green monticap. Thanks again @dz6t!!!!
