I wish I could get better PE

I feel like My acros are not doing as good as they should be. I have had a Cherry Boom that will not polyp extend. Had the thing for while now. I know my nitrates are very low, could that be it? My phosphates are at .04 I get good PE from other corals and not so much on others. My ICP test showed high in Tin I ordered a second test I hope I brought that down, inspected my powerheads along with other items to make sure I'm not leeching tin from the aquarium. I'm going with ATi test this time which gives me Nitrates reading along with my RODI. Also I know my potassium is low along with very low Iodine. Been trying to increase both of those. I also had few swings in Temp from the summer months, noting crazy, I do have that more in check these days. I will keep you guys updated and any advice would be very appreciated. Thank You

I started to have better polyp extension after I started putting small (very small) portions of reef roids 4/5 times a day. In a week everything changed.

I have reef rods but i only put in a once in awhile when I notice my phosphates are low or desired level. so maybe every two weeks i need to get better with adding reef rods.

If the corals are growing and colorful then don't change anything. Polyp extension is kind of a silly thing to chase.
You're right I try to keep things simple but seeing pictures of Cherry Bombs online with the huge PE extension is what attracted me to that acro and I just don see it in my little frag.

Frags can take months to color up like the mother colony. It takes time for the coral to really thrive in it new system.

Would you say a year old system is new? Also I know it can be trickery in a small tank to have things stable. I wish I did go a little bigger.

Yes, I didn’t really see stability and color till the 2-3 year mark. Mines almost 5 now and I just dose 2 part and use instant ocean salt and no coral feeding. All my sps are bulletproof

Thank you so much. Looking forward to my tank maturing

Could try dosing aminos for a bit. AcroPower is popular. I think Dong has also been making a home-made blend that may help with PE. Fairly low-cost and safe to try out and see if you notice any difference.

Reefroids may also help but does have a tendency to pollute the water if over used.

Other than that, keep water params stable and be patient. Nothing good happens quick and can easily be undone with param swings.

I do dose amino already I use AB+ and along with Zeovite LPS I do 6ml of AB+ and .5 ml of the LPS zeovite. I think I might to up the ml on the AB+

Sometimes it’s flow sometimes it’s nutrients sometimes it’s lighting and sometimes it’s fish. I never really had polyp extension but corals were growing, now I have tons of extension and growth has slowed down a lot. We can fuss all we want but corals really only like 1 thing and that’s stability.
