Hi, I got this coral about a week ago and it has been closed for a few days now and losing color.
Last week's test...
Ph. Cal. Mag. DKh. Nitrate. Phos.
8.344014409.917.50.14

I'm thinking it's because of the high nutrients, but am not sure it's at about middle of the tank. My light schedule is below influenced by Love the Reefs in MA.

Anyone have an idea of what's going on?

Double check your salinity and make sure you're using a reliable instrument. You have paramaters from last week but not this week - have any of them changed suddenly? It's also a good idea to list what test kits you're using as some are more reliable than others. Could also be a flow issue or related to a fish/crab nibbling.

What were the parameters of the system you purchased from? Maybe they had a lower Alk or something and it’s adjusting

I've been using the calibrated glass salinity for 77 degrees fahrenheit. It's been 1.025 SG. I'll have to ask them.

I use Hanna checker for Nitrate, phos, and Alk. I have red sea calcium pro, and Aqua Forest mag checker. Ph I use API. Salinity is calibrated glass bulb thing for 77 temp, which is what my tank sits at.

So here is the tests for this week. I did a 20 gallon WC as well. I did the WC after seeing my nitrates are high. I am testing that later tonight when I get home.

Nitrate I got down to 26.8. mixing some more water soon to do another water change. I'll post some pics of it later.

Here is some new parameters. I really have no idea what made my Nitrate spike. Can stirring up the sump do that? I will post a picture of the coral. It's not doing too great. It's wierd though because it still has green on the tips with decent polyp extension but every where else it doesn't.

Here are some pics of it today.

I still have no idea what's going on with this guy. I don't think he's going to make it. Nitrates are 16 everything else has been great and stable.
