...to set up a QT tank!!! Have a new orchid dottyback coming tomorrow and figured I'd finally do a QT setup!!! Better late than never!
Just placed my new Orchid Dottyback in a few hours. Not surprised "she" is hiding! You're right. Better late than never is good. Avoid that fish loss!
Unfortunately, it does happen. I've made the mistake once and also brought home velvet. I lost three fish that one time but managed to qt and treat with minimal loss. I will now either QT or purchased already QT'd fish.Over your 25 years, how many times has a new fish introduced to your tank brought in disease?
Years ago purchased a Petco 3 for $15 deal. Within one day all fish except for a yellow tank died from velvet.
What's a QT tank, lol. Just running UV for inch management
I have been very selective on where I purchase fish from so I am attributing my luck so far to that but I should QT everything and I have the tank to do it so I will try and start it!Over your 25 years, how many times has a new fish introduced to your tank brought in disease?

Got her from @Cultivated Reef after I won a GC for winning last month's photo contest. She's been eating since day 2 and comes out more and more each day and is eating like a pig!Where’d you get her from? How’s she doing?
Does she accept pellets? I’ve been meaning to get a CB orchid dottyback.Got her from @Cultivated Reef after I won a GC for winning last month's photo contest. She's been eating since day 2 and comes out more and more each day and is eating like a pig!
I have never had a a quarantine tank until my son’s recent blowout of of his FW tank because of a pleco that had ich. With the price of fish now, I have already purchased a 20 high for a fish quarantine, especially the price of fish these days. Funny, but when I had my system setup 15 years ago, I would take sick fish and corals, rehab them, and return them to their owners. I had a super healthy system....to set up a QT tank!!! I haven't tried but I would bet she would as she's captive bred just haven't tried yet but I'll try and give it a shot today when I feed the tanks.Does she accept pellets? I’ve been meaning to get a CB orchid dottyback.
Just a smaller tank separate from your system that you can prophylactically treat new fish for possible parasites or disease you might not see at the store. An insurance policy for a lack of better words. My son just lost a tank full of FW fish because I didn’t quarantine a new fish properly. A mistake I will not make again, especially with SW fish. Can also use it for a quarantine for corals. What's a QT tank, lol. Just running UV for inch management
I was being facetious, I've never ran one in 20+ years. I am aware of them and run a larger UV for inch management and hope for the best.Just a smaller tank separate from your system that you can prophylactically treat new fish for possible parasites or disease you might not see at the store. Whahahaha I knew you knew el presidente and I got a laugh out of both of these!I was being facetious, I've never ran one in 20+ years. I am aware of them and run a larger UV for inch management and hope for the best.
I thought so, but didn’t want to be presumptuous. I’ve never had or needed one, but I completely crashed my son’s FW tank with a snow ball pleco that had ich, completely undetected. I now have a 10 gallon hospital tank for him and I purchased a 20 high for my SW fish when I get my system going. They are just too expensive to take the chance. I seriously used to intentionally place diseased fish and corals in in my system to rehab them, but not with the cost of fish now. I’ve never had a problem with ich that crashed a tank in 30 years.I was being facetious, I've never ran one in 20+ years.
