Reef-Pi???

Anyone use Reef-Pi? I have done some research and while I have no issues with my reefkeeper setup I don't like that I can't monitor it remotely and it's a PITA to change it.

Just looking to see who has experience with it!

I dabbled and set up just the temperature probe. In order to access it remotely you will need to use a pay based integration service called Realvnc or you could always use a vpn on your homes network which is what I did through my NAS drive.

Thanks for the info. I looked into it and saw that there seems to be questionable reliability issues so I might go Hydros in the future but think my RKE setup seems to be fine for now!

I looked into it a while back as well. But got nervous with the reliability issue as well. My brother uses a raspberry pi to manage watering his garden. And likes it. But doesn’t quite have the dire consequences if it fails.

That's the truth for sure! I have a Raspberry pi 5 I plan on running my train layout through and hope to get some small wireless pi nanos to add to my 3d printers but minor inconvenience if they malfunction on those!

That would be pretty cool. What do you do with the raspberry pi for the train set-up? Do you still keep the train build thread updated?

I would be running a program called JMRI that I can automate tons of stuff. It's a long ways away though. I haven't done much with the layout lately as I've been focusing on the tank and hopefully once I build the stand/desk combo I can focus back on the layout but I did start a project recently...
