Jebao return pumps are great/ I have the following without issues. Dcp15000, DCP 8000 and DCP 2500. They work well for me.
i think all pumps sold to be used in reef tank all are working fine. The DC ones tend to cost a little bit more due to its controllability and fancy buttons. The brand name one usually cost a lot because of its name.
I never have problem with any AC pumps (I had used Eheim, maxijet, Mag Utilities pumps, Cobalt, Sicce).

+1 on jebao/jecod pumps
I use Sicce AC pumps. Quiet and durable. I don’t see the appeal of spending 2-4x more on a DC pump when quiet AC pumps are readily available and reef tanks typically already have variable speed powerheads.
For a skimmers, I understand DC adjustability being beneficial, but for return pumps, just pick a quality pump with a reasonable gph and put your money elsewhere.
