Working on plumbing. Specifically return. I’m planning on using a silicon from return pump to barbed hose adapter with a clamp to PVC. Then it’s PVC all the way up.
Now, I’m confusing myself reading so many threads on this….
So I have the PVC going up, how can I attach a return jet. I’m going over the tank, since I have q canopy, and you can’t see it.
I keep hearing get a female thread into a male thread and this and that. Can someone just “dumb this down for me” please. Just want to know how I can add a return.

I did a threaded nipple to pvc to elbow to elbow to form a "u" shape. Then another elbow to make it parallel to the water surface. It will hang on the back of the tank. That last elbow can have a thread to mount loc-line of you want.
