Rock-n-Reef’s 200 Gallon build

The UV clamps from Neat Aquatics... really loved this stuff. sturdy and solid holding it together.

Mounted the UV vertical, so that it is easy for maintenance. BTW, I do not turn on the UV unless I see any issues. In the last 4 years I had it, I have probably run that for two times. But it is good to have it plumbed in so that I don't have to scramble if needed.

Once a month, I turn up the flow on this loop heavily to flush out any detritus build up. Otherwise the flow rate thorugh it is about 200 gallons an hour.

Time to move the live stock in... (and the first snow of the season! 10/30/2020)

Removed the lights from the old tank, and mounted them

The blue tape on the tank is to give me a visual on how tall I can go with the rockscape.

The canister that you see on the left side in the picture above, I ran a 10 micron filter and a carbon block as I was moving the things. Not sure if it helped, but didn't have any casualty during the move.

I didn't attempt to aquascape as I was moving... only focused on dipping some corals and cleaning up few rocks before moving them into the new tank. If I tried to dip the corals, clean the rocks and aquascape, I knew it was going to take forever and didn't want to stress the corals too much.

10 hours later! all the rocks are in the new tank. going to let them settle down

The anemones were moved to a stock tank for a couple of days while I can get that small tank plumbed into the system.

The small tank was not drilled for the return line... so drilled that for a 3/4 inch return line

installed a new overflow for this tank and on to the stand!

Really happy with how the stand for the small tank turned out. This stand will hold most of the electronics away from the sump and all the water splash.

I didn't want to crowd this panel too much to keep everything easily accessible. So build a second cabinet that went on the left side of the main tank sump.

This will hold all the battery backups for the main tank, trident and few other devices.

The aquascape has been kept really simple... goal was to keep at least 9 to 10 inches of space above the tallest point in the rockscape, incline the rock work towards the back and to the right side of the aquascape to give it a bit of depth and build a few open channels between the rock work.

Nice, looking good!

I love it...... I think I need to invite you over to my house to opine on my plumbing challenge as I’m looking to plumb in a remote sump...... holiday meet up?!?!

Okay, I have been lazy with updating the thread... "tank build got in the way" :p

it has been a month since the last post.

Slacker I've gone over a year IIRC in my build thread

Awesome looking set up for starters looks even bette than I imagined based on when you started the thread... I did have a question. Is there a reason you haven't painted the back of the clown/anemone tank? Are you having issues with the sun coming in through the doors? I was just curious if you planned on keeping it see through/peninsula style did you ever think about putting the overflow on the right side?

Sorry if some of these questions have been answered in the first few pages I didn't look back over the whole build thread I just forgot based on the month long lack of updates :p
