Recently had the chance to drop by the Steinhart Aquarium at CalAcademy this past weekend while I am in SF. I am absolutely amazed by their coral reef exhibition setup and it is very comprehensive. Sharing some photos.

They have a very cool vertical exhibition setup where the grow light is on the first floor, and most of the exhibition viewing is under ground. So you get to see the multiple coral reefs from both up top and underwater. In addition to their two big tanks on California native reef and an Australian reef, the exhibitions are also categorized into reef locations and reef depth with multiple mini aquascapes highlighting different education narrative. Very cool place and highly recommended to visit if you are in SF.

They also have this Australian lungfish which has been oldest fish in captivity known to human, since 1938! Unfortunately their albino alligator Claude passed few months ago so we didn't get to see that.

I was wondering if their lighting systems are LED, got a big reflective cone around it and alternating blue and white bulbs, maybe someone who's more knowledgeable with public setup can chime in?
