chillers

Hey everyone, so it seems the people in my house don't like to run the ac when there is "a breeze" outside. I have been managing the tank with fans but it still seems to get to about 80 when the lights are all on. I woke up today and found that my fans had been moved and my tank was/is at 85 and is slowly starting to cool down. Although its only a 28g biocube it still has a fairly decent price tag with all the equipment/livestock, etc. I don't want to take the risk any more of wonderin what day the ac will be on and when it will be off. Is there any good chiller that could be used that won't freeze such a small tank but will keep it cool in the summer?

Thanks,

-Anthony.

I run my tank at 80.3 Up to 80.9. Hasn't been a problem. If the fans keep your tank at 80 then you are good to go.

Not a chiller but I use a small clip on fan and clip that onto my sump or canopy and have it programmed on my apex. I do not run my ac when I am at work and that small fan keeps my tank at no higher then 79.1 degrees. Just a thought. Bio cubes are all enclosed so you could open the hood when the lights are not on, that might help the heat.

theres also one that has a probe that sticks in your sump or back of tank through a hole , I've seen them in hang on back filters too

I keep both the feeding port and the back compartment open all the time. That's what seems to have helped the most.

Chillers make heat that they then throw back into the room to keep the tank hot. Run AC and that heat goes out the window.

Unfortunately the ac being on or off is not a call I can make. After looking at the price, that may be a Christmas gift lol. Might try the makeshift chiller where I coil some tube in cold water, pull water from my tank, through a pump and the coiled hose and back into the tank. Since I already have the hose and maxi jet pump. all I really need is a way to hold the hose onto the tank and some cold water.
