Thinking of supplementing Selcon along with frozen or nori for my mixed reef. What is the opinion on this supplement? How much to use?
Thx

I use to use it a few times a week. I love selcon, I would take a cube of frozen food defrost it in a cup and add 3 drops to it. Then I would let it soak over night in the fridge and feed it the next day. I would not feed it everyday it can cause lots algae. You can also dose straight to the tank if you have lots of filter feeders. If you do dose to the tank only dose 1ml per 50gs. I had a 40b with a 20l sump and I only dose 3/4s of 1ml(or what looked like 3/4s). Your tank will get foggy it's normal and should go away within a hour or so.

So, the eel in my avatar was black with white spots when I got it. The guy I got it from said it would color up when I added selcon to its diet. After a while I came across some selcon and started adding it to the shrimp/squid I would feed her about once or twice a week. The colors absolutely popped and she ended up being orange/yellow with black circles around white spots. When I stopped adding it to her diet she faded back to black with white spots.

In my opinion it does something to some fish but not all of them. It is worth trying but if you don't see a noticeable effect in a couple weeks I would stop supplementing as it does add to your bioload.
