looking fo a calculator to calculate the amuont of salt

anyone knows a formula to calculate the amount of salt (in gram) in a one gallon of reef saltwater with salinity at 1.024 sg

Not sure this is specifically what your asking. I find each salt mix is a little different. Different amounts salts required for different salt mixes to get a specific gravity you want.
I always use 1/2 cup per gallon as a starting point. Not sure if math is right but if you looking for rough estimate.
Google math saya: 4 ounces = 113.398 grams.

so I have a gallon of water that I collected from Charles River's mouth (boston harbor), it's salinity level is 1.023 (30/ppt)

and another gallon of Revere beach water, it's salinity level is 1.038 (50/ppt)


How to calculate the amount of the actual salt in gram unit that are in each gallon

50 ppt = 50 grams per liter

30 ppt = 30 grams per liter

3.785 liters = 1 US Gallon

You could let it all evaporate and measure amount of salt left after.

Yes, different salt mix have different water impurity content in them. You can't really precisely do this math problem without knowing it.

If you happen to find a salt mix with 0 then you're answer will be roughly 124 grams at 70 degrees F.

This is my 4th grader son's science fair project and therefor we need to show what formular that he use to come up with the numbers/units and not base on what we reefers say or guess.
