Bubble Alge

Bruno

I NEVER LEFT
I have some nice pieces of rock from my 55 that I want to put into my 90 but they have a little bubble alge on them. Is there any way to Kill/remove the bubble alge of the rock and not take a chance of it going into my 90

Thanks

You can scrub it off with a toothbrush under hot water outside of the tank. Some say emerald crabs will eat it but I have not had much experience with them since my corris wrasse prefers tehy be eaten ;)

imo emerald crabs just pop them and release the spores into the water just making it worse... i thing dave mcreeferson has thread on how to remove them in tank.. but if u can take the rock out just give it a good scrub and rinse

I had some on a couple of frags. I just took them out, and popped them off. I then took a toothbrush and scrubbed the area.

GoodLuck

I used to struggle with bubble algea and even bought emeralds in the hope they'd take care of it. I tried injecting them with kalk, sucking them out from inside with a hypodermic, scrubbing them but they kept coming back. In desperation I bought another 3 emeralds (my previous ones had long since expired). This crew has completely eliminated the problem. Shortly after introducing them all signs of BA disappeared.

^emerald crabs pop them and make it worse. I got an emerald crab to get rid of hair algae.

As mentioned popping them will just release spores back into the water so they could possibly grow back again...

The absolute best way to get rid of them with the least chance of releasing spores back into the tank is here. http://www.bostonreefers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=70937

I did it once and haven't had BA since...

The rock will be out of the water. Can I just scrub them off and then rinse/dip them
and then put them into my 90??

Thanks

Absolutely, I would also run it under hot water while scrubbing the rocks.

heres the trick of the trades Bruno... take out the rock and if you can get tweezer with a pointed tip go under it and pluck them out without popping them. Worked for me in the past... you can even get the quarter size BA off the same way as well

i have that problem too.. and it got worse.. And on top of the bubbles i have hair algae. i been taken rocks out one by one an taken off as much as i can the bubbles are easy out of the water.
If I use hot tap water wont that take other things off that I might need on the rock....? To me a toooth brush dont work lol maybe im not doing it rite but...
