Hippo Tang

Here's an article for how to properly quarantine. They say a 10g is okay in most instances, but if you have fish that need a lot of swimming room (like tangs, triggers, etc) then I would pick up at least a 55g tank to QT in. When a fish needs a minimum of 180g (or 6 ft) of swimming room, putting them in a small tank is just cruel. At least a 55g will give 4ft of swimming room while in QT, and besides petco is having their $1/g sale right now - no excuses!! If you plan on trying QT in the future, you need to treat all of the fish you have now and leave your DT fallow for at least 8 weeks, preferably 12, to assure that you have broken the life cycle of ich (see the prior links I posted to understand this time line and the life cycle). Otherwise there is absolutely no point in QTing in the first place.

Oh, and one other note - the guide posted here provides instructions for copper use (also provided in the copper 101 link I offered earlier) - but be aware that some fish are sensitive to copper (dwarf angels for one - you can check live aquaria for info to see if your particular fish is sensitive to copper), and if they are sensitive to copper, then you likely want to use a hyposalinity treatment instead of the copper treatment described in the article (see the hyposalinity link I provided earlier for instructions!)
