I replaced a 2xT5HO (36") fixture over a 29 gallon tank with a 175 watt Halide pendant (PFO magnetic ballast).
I like the T5HO (it will be used on my 20L quarantine tank for the time being). A nice bright crisp light. I have 1 10k and 1 actinic bulb on it.
The halide is bright, and has a -really- cool shimmer. However, it 'seems' to not have the same level of brightness as the T5HO. The bulb I am using is a Blueline 175 14k. It is a very blue bulb. Are my eyes just playing tricks on me? Is the PAR actually greater than the T5HO? I also have an Ushio 10k 175watt bulb. I may toss that on to see the difference.
I was hoping to get a small (3" or so) Ultra Maxima clam. Before I go ahead with that, I want to make sure that what I am seeing is expected.
