Do Harlequin Shrimp have a preference

I was wondering if harlequin shrimp have a preference for asterina stars or mini brittle stars? Or would they wipe out both population?

I have never owned a harlequin, but my understanding is they will wipe out both populations. I remember reading one article that said they ate every starfish offered to them when offered different starfish.

Did you pick up a harlequin? If so any chance I could stop by and grab some mini brittle stars just in case? Once the shrimp is done I’ll give you some back to repopulate your tanks if you’d like. Hope all is well!

I have had both kind of stars in my tank with my pair of harlequins. They have since wiped out the asterina stars but have left my micro brittles alone. I do feed them weekly with chocolate chips so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
