i have never had ammonia reading in the tank. until i took out the protein skimmer. i have done a major water change and i got ammnia down to 0. but has anybody else experienced ammonia spike when they took out for good there protein skimmer?

Short answer from my phone

It shouldn't. I would say you need to let your tank settle in. Too
Much change is not a good thing

I would say no.
Ammonia is a sign that the tank is no completely cycled or doesn't have a lot of bacteria.
