Overflow and return placement?

Looking for more ways to spend money on this hobby so thought I'd build a frag tank. I have a 40g breeder, Modular Marine overflow and bulkheads for return(s). Nothing is drilled so I'm working with a blank slate. The tank is 36x18" and the interior overflow box is 8x3.75".

What's your opinion on where to put these? Short side, long side, centered or offset, one return or two...too many options and looking for advice.

Most people put it off to 1 corner so it’s easier to adjust flow and coral/rack placement. Return coming from the opposite end so it pushes the film towards the overflow.
