Cowfish Behaving Strangely

In the office tank we have a LongHorn Cowfish. He's been a perfectly happy normal resident from early November until yesterday.

He keeps wedging himself into weird parts of the rock work. When I came into the office in the morning yesterday he was swimming oddly, looked like he was drunk. Then he buried himself in the rocks in a spot I was sure he was stuck. Pulled him out and he danced around for an hour, ate food and then ended up in the rocks again. Ive pulled him out three times today and he does the same thing. Acts fine, eats, has all his color, nobody is bullying him but he ends up in the rocks.

Any ideas on what his problem is?

Are there any overhangs or caves for him to swim into? He might be feeling threatened and looking for a place to feel safe. If I'm recalling correctly, cowfish are shy and there might be noise or light or movement that's startling him.

There are plenty of caves and if he was a new addition Id say that was the case but hes been in the tank for about three months with the same tankmates.

Just checked the tank for stray electric current . . . nada.

At his current rate of decline he'll be dead by the time i go home tonight tomorrow morning at the latest.

I had the same exact thing happen to mine 2 weeks ago.. Check your nitrates. I couldnt save mine but I think that was my issue.... I liked him alot he was a kewl fish! Mine was great for 6 months with a funny personality...

Sorry to hear that. Certainly my favorite fish in the tank.

I lost Mr. MooToo about 6 months ago, I finally got another one, Ms. MooShoo.

She's awesome... my wife and I both want to cuddle her. (It's true, but we're not on crack :)

I feel your loss.
