has anyone ever put a reef tank on castors?

FYI -- those sliders they sell at HD that say they can handle -- I think up to 3000lbs. It's BS. Tried it and it did not work....

the water movement could be enough to bust a seam.

When you move the tank, you do it slowly, no water sloshes.

There are rollers and there are casters, you could use either depending on whether you just want to move it back and forth or also left and right. As for stand support, if your stand is in a fish room, then a sheet of 3/4 inch plywood under your stand will disperse the weight evenly. If your tank is in your living room, I'd get a sheet of 1/4" sheet metal cut to the exact dimensions of the stand. Also if your tank is more than 24" wide, you'll need castors in the middle, not just on the ends.
