sealing a true union??

I plumbed in an OM 4 way yesterday, powered by a reefdart. I installed unions on the supply and feed lines to the pump. The reefdart takes a 2" union on the supply and an 1 1/2 on the return. Any sugestions on sealing the unions? They are sucking air causing bubbles. Don't want to remove them as this would make pump removal a PITA.

Plumbers putty? Don't know how reef safe it is though...

I was thinking of teflon pipe paste. anybody try this?

Because I didn't glue the end that goes into the ball valve!!!! Don't know why I didn't have a major flood. CAN YOU SAY DUMMY????

Take it off and glue it befor you do have a flood.
