Substrate for fuge

I’m setting up a new sump and wondering what people recommend for bedding for the fuge. I️ custom made the sump out of a standard 75g tank and about half of it is the fuge. Right now I’m seeding about 60lb of dead live rock in that section which is currently bare bottom. I️ have about 2" of sand in the DT, so looking for ideas.

I use aragonite about 2-3". Mainly for a buffer but I know some people go with the miracle mud or some sort of finer material. I dump my water top offs in from a 5 gallon bucket so fine particles get suspended so I went with a heavier option.

I️ also have aragonite in the DT and I️ like that stuff. I️’m pretty curious about the mud or deep sand bed and if the potential downsides outweigh the pluses. I’ll be using ATO and I️ also have a constant slow feed into that chamber so I️ shouldn’t be stirring things up in there that often.
