Hello Reefers,

I want to be nicer to my fish and the environment, so I'm looking into getting a RODI system that doubles for drinking water. I'm in an apartment and want something I can install myself under the kitchen sink and uninstall when I leave. I have no plumbing experience. I have a 40gal tank and a household of 3.

Do you have a dual reef water / drinking water setup? If so, what's it like?

I did some homework and found Bulk Reef Supply has a couple of RODI / Drinking water options:

Option 1: Total cost $330
6stage drinking water

Option 2: Total cost: $340

I have one. It's a 5 stage, but has dual membranes. For a smaller tank, 75 gpd should be a good sized system. All you need to make any RODI into a drinking water unit is a couple of tees, valve, expansion tank, and some kind of faucet. I feed mine directly to my fridge. Easy to install, and very low maintenance. It was one of the selling points to my wife (the drinking water). It's been running for 4 years now without any problems.
