best reactor media

Ive been using some crushed coral in my calc reactor this last time and im not able to get the alkaliny level up like I used to. I have the co2 bubble count pretty high as well. Any recommendations for good media to use? thanks. this is one of the DIY square reactors with partition in the middle for the updraft and downdraft sections.

edit: actually i just measured the effluent and its at 14-15 dkh, maybe i have to wait alot longer for the whole tank to get above 8 dkh. the main tank was reading at 6 dkh. eflluent drip is a pretty fast drip.

i use schuran,i feel you get much better flow through the larger media

I agree..It also has mag in it if I'm correct, Liam.......I also like koralith with the larger grain.The only thing it doesn't have the mag sup in it. But a little dol with fix that!!!
