Care for brain coral?

That's tends to happen with plate corals. Never heard of it with a brain coral.

Ya never know what can happen with a seemingly dead coral. All it takes is a small bit of tissue to rise from the ashes.

I would suspect water issues to be honest. trachs dont bleach out and die that quick without either too much light or poor water quality. Post your Calc, Alk, Mag, Sg levels this way you wont have this issue again.

do you dose alk/calc on a daily basis?

To see it take a turn like that so quickly i was also thinking your alk was off.

i had a favia tip over and lay face down for a day and when i flipped it over it looked fine but then completely bleached and lost all of its tissue the next day. Alk could also be the culprit

Same thing happen to me. Everything in my tank seemed like it was a go.... and you put one in, and pow it looks like you wanted to kill the coral.
