cutting overflow box from glass

Has anyone cut a glass overflow box? After having the pcs quoted out by 2 glass companies I have decided to think about cutting it myself. Can I use an old cracked 10 gallon tank? Is the only tempered glass in a 10 gallon the bottom? Also what do you use to cut the teeth for the box?

I've never seen a glass overflow with teeth cut out. I would think it would be very hard to cut and very prone to breakage.

Second on that triggerfish said, why not acrylic?

When I did the teeth on my fuge in acrylic, I created a template with .5" marks. I then used a .5" bit on my drill press and moved it across uniformly drilling every other .5". To finish it off, I cut the holes in approx in half with a table saw so it made a nice notched pattern. Works well in the fuge :)

Acrylic is the only way to go i would think... i bought a sheet (20''x26'') at HD for 20 bucks when i did mine...
