does anyone grow any types of macro as a constant food source for tangs?

I have a hard time with chaeto and I don't know why. Tried more flow, iron, etc. I'm about to give up and try something else. Although my fuge does grow hair algae quite well and is basically an algae scubber!

i had the same problem before with my old tank?
the cheato would survive ,
but didn't grow
and i think it was because all the water coming into the sump went through the skimmer first ,and didn't have enough nutrients for it to consume?
on my new setup i tee'd off my return into the fuge
