Hammer Bubble

I've had this hammer 15+ years. It has survived everything, algea outbreaks, crashes, moves and I even went a year with no water changes once, but I have never seen it do this. It look like the hammers flesh but it looks more like a bubble coral. I have numerous pieces in the same tank but only this one is doing it. No new additions to tank, parameters are normal. Anyone see this in a hammer before?

This happened to me a couple of years ago. Over some time, it disappeared and a new head formed below where the bubble was. I'm sure some of the more seasoned vets will chime in. Good luck.
