Ok so ive had my 37 marineland led tank running as a fowlr for close to 8 months and i have 20 pounds of natures ocean reef sand and 16 pounds of crushed coral. I dont like the crushed coral at all and i want to put my live rock right on the glass. ( I have alot of things that bury and dig through the sand. I have already noticed the rock moving and falling. I was wondering if i can take out most of the water and fish and take out my sand and put new sand in. Then put everything back in the tank. I guess what im trying to ask is if i need to cycle the new sand first.
thanks for any help

if the new sand is "live sand" then no. You should be fine with minimal effects. If the new sand was "dry" hopefully you saved a few cups of the old so you could have seeded it. Dry sand really needs to washed out btw if you went with dry.

i went with the bagged live sand it was quite wet when it went into the tank. i also did about a 30 % water change also so its really cloudy
