for the diy kings and queens:

I’ve struggled for so long with either loose corals falling/tipping over cuz of the fish or inverts knocking them over, or just mounting them in a spot they’re not happy in, so i’d have to keep remounting to find their happy place.

I stopped dealing with that a while ago, because i started doing this: (see step by step images)

as you can see, you can use plugs to mount any coral and move them around as much as you like. once you start doing this, you’ll never go back. if you’re concerned about not having a natural look, coraline/algae and the coral itself will grow over the plugs in no time so you’ll never notice it.

enjoy!

You're a legend for this lol. I've seen people doing similar things with PVC but mainly in frag or grow-out systems, but this is a great way to keep the display accessible too. Definitely going to try this once I start my new build...any issues with urchins or anything knocking them over?

for the diy kings and queens:

I’ve struggled for so long with either loose corals falling/tipping over cuz of the fish or inverts knocking them over, or just mounting them in a spot they’re not happy in, so i’d have to keep remounting to find their happy place.

I stopped dealing with that a while ago, because i started doing this: (see step by step images)

as you can see, you can use plugs to mount any coral and move them around as much as you like. once you start doing this, you’ll never go back. if you’re concerned about not having a natural look, coraline/algae and the coral itself will grow over the plugs in no time so you’ll never notice it.

enjoy!

That’s a sweet idea

THis is a great idea, someone posted this video in my build thread several months back which is similar but mounts a disc onto an acrylic rod that can slip into predrilled holes. I really wanted to do this but didnt want to risk trying to build my already completed NSA scape. Had I seen this before I built it I absolutely would have done this

thanks fam, figured it’s a useful enough hack and shouldn’t be kept a secret.
best part is when you get good at it, you can mount them on vertical parts of rocks or even edges that are hanging off, so you can jam pack your tank with them and keep moving corals around till they’re happy.

I’ve also used them as pods to hold pieces of sps i break off by accident till i stop being lazy and grab the glue and a plug to formally mount them.

super useful, i’ve lost count of how many are in my tank.

i have a different tank with rock work with numerous holes i drilled with a dremel, but this def works better cuz i can put them where ever i want and there’s no limits on how many i have to work with or where i can put them.

also when corals grow and block light from others, it’s good to be able to mount new spots.

it’s not too late man! grab some putty and mount away!

Great job @Arsalan. I did try the way the Abe from Coral Euphoria did his, but found that it became a PITA and walked away from that idea.
Thinking I'll give this a shot sometime today as I have a few frags that are started to encroach the frag rack with growth.

Going to share this over on @Humblefish' forum as I think lots of people could benefit form it.

What is the specific product you use for the putty?
