Thanks for the tips. Going to pick up a nitrite test this week. One more newbie question. My ammonia is reading very very high, at least 4 or 5, maybe more. It's the darkest blue on the chart and hasn't gone down at all. Is it possible to have ammonia levels too high to the point where it kills the bacteria I need to process it? Should I do a water change to lower the levels?

Yes and yes.
I think Dr. Tim recommends 2 ppm.
