Battling ich and dinos simultaneously. This firefish, the newer but larger of the two in the tank, got too stressed out.
The question is.. is the sore / laceration on his stomach a symptom of his illness, or as @dz6t suggests, a wound inflicted by a tank mate or clean up crew?

Sorry about the condition of the fish, he’s not “fresh” he’s a couple hours out of the tank at this point

This photo shows a wound that was not caused by cleanup crew or tank mate. The fish might die from an internal parasite that eventually ruptured his stomach. But this can only be a guess according to the appearance of fish.

Ich wouldn't do that. As mentioned above, an internal parasite which caused an internal infection is the most likely explanation.
