How can you tell the males from the females?

Getting back to the Q tank cycle, why not toss use a small whisper filter or a airstone sponge filter? Simply put the sponge in your main tank or sump for a couple of weeks to build up the bacteria and then transfer it to your Q-Tank. The only other thing I would put in a Q-Tank is some PVC pieces for the fish to hide in. No rock, no sand, just a sponge type filter and some PVC pieces.
