Quick Review: Frag Rack Stands by Joe Rice

Joe Rice is an outstanding member of BostonReefers Society for many year.
Here is a quick review of his 3D printed frag rack (egg crates) stands.

Egg Crates (light diffuser available from Homedepot) are widely used in coral farming and for frag tanks,
Which confused the associates at HomeDepot for years, “you want to do what what with them?”

There are many way to make a frag rack from egg crates and these stands are wonderful.

First of all, it is made out of reef safe black plastic. It has a square head that can be snapped right into the standard egg crates from HomeDepot.

The reason I use a “dirty” egg crate is that the egg crate is not “dirty”, it is “seasoned and cured”, so that I can use it right away in my frag tank.

Here come the most impressive parts, you can use the square where the stand is, without loosing a slot for your coral.

It took 5 seconds to install the stands on an egg crate, then it is ready for use.

I give these stands a 5 out of 5 excellent rating!!

A quick update according to Joe:
These stands will fit the black egg crates from Bulkreefsupply.

Some egg crates are not the same on both sides. The holes are slightly larger on one side than the other and in this case the legs are designed to go into that side.
