What’s the longest someone has gone without changing out their carbon? I’m on three weeks and I think there is black dust from it in my sump.

Did u rinse it or run water thought the reactor before going back in your sump?

Looks like detritus to me... AKA... poo, waste, feces, excrement, kaka, doodie, doo-doo, scat, poop, turds, dung.
I don’t use a reactor but have been known to let my bag o carbon set in the sump for over a month or two at times. I might change out more frequently if I use lots of glue or something...

Yeah it’s in a reactor.

I rinse it in a bucket and also rinse a little in the reactor before putting in the sump

I think your flow is to strong. Are you compacting it in the reactor? Carbon should not tumble at all and water should be forced through it. The dust is coming from the carbon breaking up from tumbling

Yeah it’s compact with filter floss also at the top. Flow might be high though. I’m using a very small eheim pump
