Trapped like a hippo

After many failed attempts with my own trap another member (Charga) let me borrow his trap and less than 1 total hour of fishing I caught my hippo.

i could have trapped 6 fish at one time. great idea of being able to put food in the trap and keep your hand out of the tank.
thanks ray, no ice fishing for me so this will be my biggest fish of the winter

Nice Fish! I used a similar kind of trap to catch the Clown Tang. I believe I am having one custom built as we speak.

It's good to see the trap worked out to catch the Hippo Tang.

Is that a store bought trap? If so, what kind? The ones I've seen you need to manually close the door on them once the fish is inside. I have a deep tank so that would be difficult. I need to catch an aggressive wrasse.

oops...just realized this is the DIY forum, so it's probably a homemade trap. I'm interested in learning more about it though!
